Solicitors for Anthony Lancaster (49) of Circular Road in Derry intends mounting a legal challenge to the PSNI's seizure of the material on Tuesday.

The documents, which include the names of 32CSM supporters, were seized along with a computer and other electronic equipment.

Mr Lancaster, a close associate and election worker for well-known Derry dissident republican Gary Donnelly, was arrested during the search but later released.

Mr Lancaster said the forms were the property of Mr Donnelly's campaign team.

Mr Donnelly is standing as an independent republican in this years local government elections.

Solicitor Jack Quigley said a number of legal options were being considered.

"I believe there has been a potential interference with the electoral process," he said.

"They took three electoral registration forms with the names and addresses of voters as well as blank forms and a blue A4 note pad with the names and addresses of 30 people who had already been registered to vote."

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a search had taken place on Tuesday in relation to serious crime.

She said two men were arrested for alleged public order offences and were charged to appear in court later this month.
